What’s on my TV: February 2021

Well, another month and we are still stuck in quarantine, so more TV watching for me! I regularly watch a lot of TV, but when it’s cold outside and you can’t do many indoor activities, we have been watching a L O T of TV.

Side note: we aren’t sick and haven’t had any known exposure to COVID, but we are staying as isolated as possible due to the current volume of COVID cases in our area.

Summer House (Bravo)

I look forward to this show every year. It always comes out in the wintertime, and it gives me some summer weather to daydream about. It also makes me want to drink rose. Because of COVID, this season has MTV’s Real World vibes and I’m here for it. It’s just a bunch of Manhattan millennials getting hammered and partying at their Hamptons house all summer. It’s a pretty simple concept, but endlessly entertaining. I’m also excited about MTV’s Floribama Shore, which starts on 2/25. That’s a similar concept, but the housemates are younger and trashier. A recipe for excellent TV, if you ask me.

The Queens Gambit (Netflix)

I realize that we are a little late to the party on this one but I must discuss the Queens Gambit: a show about an orphan child who is a chess prodigy. Matt and I watched the 7 episode mini-series in one weekend. There is truly nothing about this show I should have liked: period piece, chess, tournaments. But it was amazing: the acting, the casting, the stories, the dialogue, the costume design, all of it. If this show doesn’t win several Emmy’s, I will throw a fit. It’s a show that everyone should watch.

Firefly Lane (Netflix)

This is a series based on the Kristen Hannah book series of the same name. It tells the story of two best friends, and they are telling the story while intertwining the past and the present lives of the friends. I’m only halfway through the series, but I can guarantee you that it is all I will be watching until I am finished! I needed a show where I could get truly invested in the lives of the main characters, and this is a good one.

Everwood (HBO Max)

This show premiered in 2002, and I watched it when I was in high school and college. It’s the story of an NYC neurosurgeon, who’s wife passes away in a tragic accident. He moves his family to Everwood, CO to have a slower life in a small town. It’s a great family drama!

What have you been watching lately??
